“We decided that even if we didn't need Passiv Haus certification, we needed to build to Passiv Haus standard. The question then was finding the builder. All the firms we approached initially said "You don't build like that"; "You don't need that much insulation"; "There's no point in making the house airtight, and anyway, we can't do that". It was only when we met Kelvin that we first realised that we might have a solution to the problem. Younger than many building bosses, his company attitude seemed to be "Yes we can. And where we can't, we're willing to learn." The outcome is a house which is much more comfortable, very airtight, and uses a fraction of the energy of the old house, although it is of substantially greater volume. ” Heather and Denis Fitzgerald (Bodfari)
